Tori Kelly with Zinadelphia
Mercury Ballroom
Louisville, KY
April 30th, 2024
Tori Kelly brought her Purple Skies Tour to Louisville, KY on April 30th to a sold out crowd of fans! The venue was packed, with fans eagerly awaiting Tori’s set and creating a fun and upbeat atmosphere with their excitement! Opening the show was Philadelphia singer/guitarist Zinadelphia. With just her and her bass player on stage, she wowed the crowd with her funny banter with the crowd, her genuine love for performing, and her incredibly beautiful and powerful voice. Along with performing singles and songs from her Lucky EP, she sang a really beautiful cover of “I Will Survive”, during which the crowd went completely silent. The only sounds you could hear in the crowd were of those fans who were cheering and clapping. It was a great start to the evening.
Next up was Tori Kelly! Bouncing out onto the stage, waving to the crowd with a huge smile on her face, she got everyone singing and dancing in no time. She has such a passionate fan base that you would have been hard-pressed to find one person in the crowd who didn’t know the words to her songs. It was a jubilent atmosphere! She chatted quite a bit with her fans between songs, with a setlist of songs that included “Paper Hearts”, “Should Have Been Us”, “Unbelievable”, and “Diamonds”. “How are ya’ll doing?”, she asked frequently throughout the evening. “You look really good! I’m noticing some purple in the crowd”! Tori was wearing plenty of purple this evening and was dancing on stage, having a great time with her band mates and with the crowd. Throughout her set, she went from one side of the stage to the other, as well as everywhere in between, paying equal attention to all parts of the crowd and often leading them in sing-alongs.
It is clear that Tori adores her fans, as they adore her, with her saying throughout the evening, “When I look around, I really do feel like I have the best fans in the world! Ya’ll are amazing!”. About midway through the set, her drummer and keyboardist left the stage and Tori sang a couple of songs solo with her guitar. “When I was putting together the set and got to this part of the show and didn’t know what to play,” she said. “So, I figured I would ask ya’ll what you wanted to hear? Any requests?”. She performed “City Dove” from her 2016 album Unbreakable Smile, laughing that she hoped she remembered how to play it as it had been a while, as well as “Oceans” from her latest album TORI.. When her band came back out she asked the crowd if they were ready for another throwback, launching into “Unbreakable Smile”. She went on to say how all little Tori wanted was to do this and how her fans have made that little girl’s dream come true, thanking everyone for their continued support. Having performed at Mercury Ballroom in 2015, she talked about how great it was to be back! She put on a high-energy and phenomenal performance and really connected with her fans. Everyone had a great time and projected their love back to her! It was a really great night!
