Mercury Ballroom

Louisville, KY

May 8th, 2026

New Jersey Indie-rock band Phoneboy came to Mercury Ballroom on May 8th for the second-to-last stop on their 2026 Tour, which they co-headlined with Heart Attack Man. Comprised of Wyn Barnum (guitar/vocals), Ricky Dana (guitar/vocals), James Fusco (bass), and Jordan Torres (keys/vocals), the band has grown a passionate fan base since forming in 2018. On April 25th of last year, they released their latest album Heartbreak Designer, starting off their set with three songs from the album- “Wayside”, “Better Than You”, and “Hung Up”. Performing a few other songs from the album, they also performed some older fan favorites that included “Runaway”, “Moving Out”, “Open Up”, “Nevermind”, “Hey, Kid!”, and “Sweater Song”. The band hit the stage to a roar of cheers from the crowd, who started dancing and singing from the first note! It’s easy to see why this band is so loved by their fans. From the moment they came out onto the stage, they were having fun with each other and the crowd, making sure their fans were having fun and were engaged throughout the set. By encouraging fans to jump around and clap and sing along, they kept the energy high for their their entire set! Opening the show this evening were Toronto grunge-pop band Pony and Texas band Slow Joy, the solo project of Esteban Flores that combines grunge, emo, and shoegaze sounds, with both bands being fun, high-energy, and heavily engaged with the crowd to get everyone warmed up for the evening! Performing just ahead of Phoneboy this evening was Ohio punk band Heart Attack Man, who drove things up a notch with their high-energy punk sound! It was a really fun evening all around!
