Red Rock Amphitheater, nestled between the massive formations created by movement in the earth, is one of those venues that holds magical experiences around every corner. For a double night, sold out show, Flume and Friends were ready to give a mystical experience to the journeyers from far and wide. As his only headlining show this year, Flume brought a crew of people. Jpegmafia and slowthai opened the show with all new production.

With a house of 9,500 seats, the crowds at Red Rock were vibrant and energetic, filling the arena early on to secure the prime viewing location. Taking shuttles from hotels and ubers from downtown, Flume fans staked their claim in the seats that rose high above the stage.

Once the sun had set and darkness creeped across the Colorado landscape,  Flume entered center stage. Red Rocks showed their appreciation with a loud, excited roar. He opened by spray painting a flat object on the stage. It was hard to tell exactly what it said, but when the beat dropped, he held up a sign that read: HI THIS IS FLUME, and the night was off to an electric start.

During the second song into the performance, Vera Blue walked out of the dark corner of the stage and began singing lyrics from their featured song “Never Be Like You”. Her presence gave Flume an extra dynamic to his already spectacular show with her high hitting notes of melodic goodness. He continued the night with Austrailian smile to accompany his electronic beats. With several different DJing instruments spread across the stage, he maneuvered each one of them to add physicality to the show. A favorite moment was his performances of “Tennis Courts” ft. Lorde and “Hyperreal” ft. kučka. The explosion of brilliant musical songs like those above sent the crowd into a frenzy. With mirrors, lazers, smoke, and dancers, one could not ask for a better immersive art showing from a quickly accelerating star like Flume.
