July 2nd, 2025
Nebraska reggae rock band 311 brought their 2025 Unity Tour to Iroquois Amphitheater on July 2nd to a packed house! Having formed in 1988, these guys have been going strong for close to 4 decades and amassing a large and loyal fan base along the way. I arrived at the venue about an hour before doors and there was a line of people, who had purchased VIP access, waiting for early entry to meet the band. It didn’t take long, though, before the general admission line started filling up, as well! Upon entering the venue, the atmosphere maintained a joyful and excited buzz and the merch line was steady throughout the entire evening. 311 is full of positive vibes, with the band walking out onto the stage this evening to a roar of applause and cheers from the crowd. They made everyone feel welcome and engaged throughout their set, with singer Nick Hexum saying early on that “this band has always been about unity and friendship.” The band had a set list that effortlessly blended newer and older songs alike to appeal to their wide range of fans, but classic hits like “Come Original”, “All Mixed Up”, and “Down” had the crowd full of energy, singing and dancing with their hands in the air. The band has maintained the same line up all these years, only replacing lead guitarist Jim Watson with Tim Mahoney in 1991 and adding Doug “S.A.” Martinez in 1992 on 2nd vocal/turntables/percussion, and you could feel the love and connection that these guys feel for each other during their set. They blasted through 22-song set list, engaging with the crowd and ensuring that everyone was having a good time. It was a really fun and upbeat evening of music! LA rock band Badflower and San Diego rock band Sitting On Saturn opened the show, giving the crowd high-energy performances and warming them up for the evening!
