We recently caught up with Paige Duddy, vocalist of California-based duo xylø, and she opened up about how her grandfather played an influential role in her decision to pursue a career in music.
“My grandfather was a huge musical influence growing up. He is a professional jazz drummer and studio percussionist. I grew up living next door to him and my grandma and even lived with them for a year in high school. He gave me my first drum lessons and would always make sure I was practicing piano when I took lessons. It wasn’t until I was 18 that I started taking singing seriously. I went to music school for a bit when xylø started and stepped on a stage for the first time when xylø played their first gig supporting Oh Wonder at the Troubadour. I’ve learned a tremendous amount, musically, in the last couple years.”
