twenty one pilots release music video for “Nico and the Niners”

Columbus, Ohio based genre bending duo twenty one pilots have shared the music video for their recently released single “Nico and the Niners” — part two of a three part video series for their forthcoming album Trench out October 5th via Fueled By Ramen.

With the release of this newest music video, it’s clear that twenty one pilots are up to something but what it is exactly, is still up for debate. Two weeks after surprise releasing their double singles, “Jumpsuit” and “Nico,” singer Tyler Joseph and drummer Josh Dun are finally reunited in the new clip, which opens with a camera floating above a bleached-out, futuristic city. The view then zooms down into a room where Joseph sings the bouncy reggae-tinged refrain “East is up” while holding a yellow flower he adds to a pile inside a wooden box. The symbolism is prevalent in the music video and now it’s up to the clique to figure out what exactly is going on. Watch the music video for “Nico And The Niners” below:
