Mammoth WVH w/Nita Strauss
The Intersection
Grand Rapids, MI
November 11, 2023

After opening for Metallica in Detroit on Friday, Mammoth WVH sold out the Intersection in Grand Rapids on Saturday night.

Fans started lining up in the afternoon to secure their front-row spots for the evening. Opening the night was guitarist Nita Strauss, who many know as a touring musician for Alice Cooper. She knew how to warm up the crowd; watching her play was fun.

At 8:40 PM the lights went off again and the crowd cheered when frontman Wolfgang Van Halen and his band members stormed the stage and started with „Right?“ off their latest release Mammoth II.

What followed were a great mix of tracks off both of their albums as well as a „Happy Birthday To You“ to Wolf‘s cousin and a member of the audience.

„The Distance“ was performed just how Wold wrote it, acoustic with just his guitar and I enjoyed hearing that version live. The audience listend in awe and you could have heard a pin drop.

When the band left the stage and came back a minute later for the encore Wolf asked the audience „ Why do we do this? For drama?“ and they started playing the first single off their latest album „Another Celebration at the End of the World“ followed by „Don‘t Back Down“.

The show ended shortly after 10 PM and left everyone in the audience wanting more. After the concert, I purchased a hoodie and was surprised by the very reasonable merch prices.

Mammoth WVH still have a few shows left on their itinerary this year and if they come to your area I would highly recommend seeing them.
