Pop Evil with Fame On Fire and LYLVC

Mercury Ballroom

Louisville, KY

November 14th, 2023

Michigan rock band Pop Evil brought their Flesh & Bone Tour to Mercury Ballroom on November 14th to a packed house! No stranger to Louisville, Pop Evil always draws a large crowd whenever they are in town! Opening the show this evening was North Carolina band LYLVC. This genre-breaking band blends hard rock, hip hop, electronica, and alternative sounds into a hybrid sound of their own. Fronted by Alyse Zavala (vocalist/singer) and Oscar Romero (vocalist/rapper), their distinct vocal styles complimented each other perfectly. The band was very engaging with the crowd and the crowd responded to the infectious energy of the band! Performing many songs from their latest EP, 2023’s Perfect Drug, the band was the perfect start to the evening! Next up was Florida rock band Fame On Fire. These guys were pure energy from the first note and, with plenty of fans in the crowd, had everyone dancing and singing along in no time! Starting things off with “Welcome To The Chaos”, “Emo Shit”, and “Her Eyes”, they performed an 11-song set that included songs from their 2020 album LEVELS and 2022 album Welcome To The Chaos, as well as a fun cover of Linkin Park’s “Numb” that had the crowd singing their hearts out!

Closing out the evening was Pop Evil. Touring in support of their latest album Skeletons, the band brought the energy from the moment they walked out on stage. Singer Leigh Kakaty engaged heavily with the crowd, who were singing along with him to every song sung this evening. Starting the set off with “Paranoid (Crash & Burn)”, “Deal With The Devil”, and “Let The Chaos Reign”, they played a nice mix of songs, both old and new. About halfway through the set, he announced “Are you kidding me Louisville?! We are grateful to be in one of our favorite cities in the US tonight! You guys always show up for us. How many of you have heard our new album? This is an important week for us. We just found out our current single hit number one on rock radio. Thank you guys! It’s our 9th number one record. On behalf of us 4 guys and one badass woman (drummer Haley Cramer), we thank you guys for your support over the years. Can we play you that song right now? This is “Skeletons”!”. Later in the set, Kakaty told the crowd “You guys are unbelievable! Best of the tour so far. But what else would we expect, being back at the Mercury Ballroom? Has 2023 been a tough year for anyone else? I think it’s safe to say there are a few survivors in the room!”. The band then launched into their song “Survivor” from their 2021 album Versatile. Ending the set with their hit “Waking Lions”, Kakaty asked the crowd “How many of you have to work tomorrow? Let me ask you a question-can we play some metal? Raise those fists!”. The band then waved and bowed to the fans, briefly leaving the stage before coming back out for a 5-song encore. Starting the encore off with acoustic renditions of “100 in a 55” and “Monster You Made”, they then performed “Torn To Pieces” and “Trenches” featuring Bryan Kuznitz of Fame On Fire. Ending the evening with “Breathe Again”, they gave their fans an incredible evening of music!
