Single Review: The Shantics “Maybe I…”

The Shantics are a fresh, new and unsigned band from South West London with witty story-telling style lyrics and energetic guitar riffs that are taking over the hearts and souls of listeners. The band consists of Jimmy Morris (guitar and vocals), Harry Morris (guitar), Nathaniel Vine (bass), and Rob Wheeler (drums).

Inspired by acts like The Cure, The Police and The Talking Heads, The Shantics just delivered their single “Maybe I…”, a groovy, hip-swaying jam that’s putting its own twist on indie rock.

“Maybe I…” is a song about a hesitant young love. It opens with strong guitar, a signature of The Shantics, before introducing an adrenaline building drumroll. Lead singer Jimmy Morris’ vocals flow through the listener’s ears, a voice that is so distinctly British rock.

The Shantics have told the perfect story through their lyrics, making it relatable for practically any listener. Jimmy shows the hesitation all too familiar with young love during the chorus: “maybe I doubt too much/maybe you stifle us/maybe I’m not around enough/maybe you, you want too much from me” before progressing into a picture perfect rock riffed chorus.

“Maybe I…” is the perfect tune for the upcoming summer, so roll down your windows and let The Shantics pour through your speakers as you drive on those long summer nights.
