Shinedown delivered an unforgettable night at the Huntington Center in Toledo on Thursday, as part of their “Dance, Kid, Dance” tour. The energy was through the roof from the moment the openers Morgan Wade and Beartooth took the stage.

Columbus,OH natives Beartooth delivered a blistering opening set for Shinedown igniting the crowd with their signature blend of raw emotion and relentless energy. Fronted by Caleb Shomo, the band showcased tracks from their latest album, “The Surface, including fan favorites like “Might Love Myself” and “I Was Alive.”

Shortly after 9pm Shinedown finally took the stage kicking off with the explosive “Dance, Kid, Dance” and seamlessly transitioning into fan favorites like “Fly From the Inside,” “Cut the Cord,” and “Devil.” After the first few songs, frontman Brent Smith asked the audience “Are you having a great time or the time of your life?” and the crowd erupted in cheers.

The inclusion of “Through the Ghost,” a tour debut, added an unexpected twist that delighted longtime fans. The band’s stage presence was commanding, with frontman Brent Smith engaging the audience throughout the night. A particularly poignant moment occurred when Smith addressed the crowd, saying, “Ohio, you have been with us since day one. Thank you!” This heartfelt acknowledgment resonated deeply with the audience, underscoring the band’s gratitude for their loyal supporters.

In a rare and intimate segment, Shinedown treated fans to a deep cuts acoustic set, showcasing their versatility and musical depth. This acoustic interlude provided a refreshing contrast to the high-octane rock anthems, allowing the audience to experience the band’s softer, more introspective side.

Adding to the night’s significance, guitarist Zach Myers had undergone emergency surgery just a day prior to the show. Despite medical advice to rest, Myers was determined not to miss the performance in Toledo. His commitment to the fans and the band was evident as he powered through the set, his passion and energy undiminished by his recent surgery.

The evening was punctuated by several standout performances, including the emotionally charged “Daylight,” the anthemic “Monsters,” and the explosive “Sound of Madness.” The band’s rendition of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” was a touching tribute that resonated with fans, highlighting Shinedown’s ability to honor musical legends while making the song their own.

Shinedown’s concert in Toledo was a testament to their status as one of rock’s premier live acts. From the high-energy performances to the intimate acoustic moments and the band’s unwavering dedication, the night was a celebration of music, resilience, and the unbreakable bond between the band and their fans. Toledo’s enthusiastic response was a fitting tribute to a band that continues to inspire and connect through their powerful music.
