Friday night Dogstar, an alternative rock band from LA, played a sold-out show at the Majestic Theatre in Detroit as part of their “Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees” tour.

The band went on an indefinite hiatus in 2002, and 18 years later the Covid lockdown brought them all back together in the studio and they decided to record a new album. In May 2023, Dogstar performed their first public concert in over 20 years at the BottleRock Napa Valley music festival and fans have been waiting for the announcement of tour dates ever since.

“Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees” was released on October 6th, 2023 and the band’s tour finally made it to Detroit two months later.

Friday night Dogstar came on stage to the sound of 1,100 roaring fans and opened with “Blonde” of their latest album.

What followed was ‘Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees” in its entirety, as well as some of their older songs. During “Sunrise” the band stopped the song for a medical emergency in the audience and thanked everyone for looking out for each other.

During the encore, just before they played “Shallow Easy“, which is a new and unreleased song, frontman Bret Domrose mentioned that this is the perfect song for tonight as it is about caring for one another.

After their 75-minute set, the band left the stage leaving the fans wanting more and Detroit can not wait for Dogstar to stop here again on their next tour.
