Alternative indie outfit Beach Weather has got it down – their sound, their aesthetic, their energy – and it shows the second they hit the stage. Opening for Lovelytheband., on their current US tour, the trio, made up of Nick Santino (formerly of A Rocket to the Moon), Reeve Powers, and Sean Silverman, is nothing but good vibes onstage, and is anything but amateur – their experience and history as a band shining through during every song. It is one thing for a band to be able to create good energy between themselves and their audience, but the other piece of a performance that needs to be entirely refined and organized is the way a band’s members perform together and interact with one another. For Santino, Powers, and Silverman, this appears a cakewalk.

Grooving under sunset-colored lights, playing synthy, funky, alternative rock, these three move with one another like they’re connected with magnets. Through older songs like “Chit Chat,” and “Swoon,” as well as newer pieces, like “Sex, Drugs, Etc.” and their new release’s title track “Pineapple Sunrise,” they are all parts of one whole. Their consistent analog sound and aesthetic feel reminiscent of bands like Arctic Monkeys and The 1975, specifically in the way they appeal to more than just their listener’s sense of sound.

They, Beach Weather, are comprised of visualettes, lights, colors, sounds, all ebbing and flowing together – a combination that is pristine when done well. And they’ve done it well. The response from their audience at Chicago’s House of Blues on the 20th alone is more than enough evidence of that – but those who need to see it for themselves can catch the band at Chicago’s Q101 PIQNIQ on July 30, Columbus’ Wonderbus Music & Arts Festival on August 26, Life is Beautiful Fest in Las Vegas on September 22, or on a sweep of Canada this November. Tickets for all of these dates can be found on Beach Weather’s website, and a gallery of their House of Blues performance can be seen below.
