Be part of Ally Burnett’s new music video

Pop artist Ally Burnett wants you to help her out for her new music video. Check out details below on how you can be part of Burnett’s music video for “We’re All the Same” a song about anti-bullying:

I’m making a new music video, and this one is all about YOU. That’s right, each and every one of you!

I wrote a song called “We’re All the Same”. It’s meant to be inspirational to those that are bullied or feel like outsiders. I was bullied a lot as a kid and I’ve always just been “different”, but I didn’t always own it the way I do now. Bullying made me stronger in the long run but it really hurt me for years. Not everyone can turn their pain into strength. Those people are NOT weak, they just need people to remind them that they’re beautiful and worthwhile. They need a positive message and they need to know that they are not alone and that someone can relate.

So where do you come in? Well, YOU are the video. The whole thing! I’m trying to get as many people as I can from around the world to send in their videos, and then my friend Jonathan Vaca is going to edit them all together to make one video.

It’s really easy! Just shoot a 10-30 second video of you holding up a sign with one of the following three things on it (one theme per sign) :

1. How you feel about yourself/how bullying makes you feel.

PLEASE NOTE: There will already be a sign that says “I FEEL….”, so don’t write that on your sign. Just write what comes after that.

For example: “scared”, “lonely”, “like an outsider”, “misunderstood”, “ugly”.

2. Why you’re bullied

PLEASE NOTE: There will already be a sign that says “BECAUSE….”, so don’t write that on your sign.

For example: “I’m gay”, “I dress differently”, “I’m not like everyone else”, “I’m overweight”, “I’m poor”.

3. A positive message for others

PLEASE NOTE: Do not use the phrase “It gets better” because it’s part of a campaign.

This is where I want you to be creative. Send a message of love to someone that needs it, to all the kids who feel alone in the world. Remind them that they’re beautiful, that they’re worth it, that they’re capable of great things, that someone loves them. Make it personal. Do you know someone other than yourself that was bullied? Make a sign that says “This is for my friend”, “This is for my brother”, etc. Just make the message positive and encouraging.

Examples:

“You’re beautiful”, “You’re worth it”, “Don’t give up”, “I love you”, “Someone loves you”, etc.

If you want to do more than one sign, you can! We need a lot of footage for this. Just make sure that you hold still for at least 5 seconds with each sign. Make sure that it is 10-30 seconds long in total.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY BRAND LOGOS IN YOUR VIDEO. For example: don’t wear a hat with a sports team logo on it, don’t have a bottle of soda with the label in the shot, don’t wear a shirt that says the brand name across the front, etc.

Upload your videos to mediafire.com (or sendspace, yousendit, etc. Or as an attachment in an email.) and send the download link to [email protected]. Also, please send an email to the same address with your real name, age, location and a simple statement that says I have your permission to use your video.

Videos must be submitted by October 28, 2011!

If you absolutely cannot make a video but still want to be a part of the project, just snap a few pictures and email them to [email protected] .

Thank you so much to all my friends that are already making their videos. I think this is going to be a really great project and I’m excited for you to be part of it!
