RYDYR releases music video for “Fly Away” with rerelease of “Wonderful Life”

Singer-songwriter RYDYR has released the music video for “Fly Away,” the escapist fourth single off his debut EP, These Things Always Change, via his own Shadowwood Records with a rerelease of “Wonderful Life”, an upbeat anthem of self-relief to take the high road and leave someone behind. Produced by Zakk Cervini (Good Charlotte, Poppy), the EP offers listeners an intimate look into RYDYR’s musical and personal journey.  The six songs on These Things Always Change feature bold and bright pop, offset with alternative adventurousness and timeless rock star ambition, rooted in live instrumentation and unfiltered lyrics.  “With this year being so wild and changing on us all, the direction of this latest project changed as well.  “Fly Away” was a song I had written a few years back, and felt that I needed to add it to this EP.  So we reproduced it to the version you are hearing now,” shares RYDYR.  “The title of the EP, These Things Always Change, is a line from the first verse of this song, followed by the line “..But shame on me I stay the same…”.  When I set out to make music as RYDYR, I always want to give you my truth and soul in all my music.  So even with a world changing around us, I hope that everyone who listens feels a sense of peace and the ability to escape a bit, while remembering to always maintain peace and a true sense of self.  It’s okay to step away from the bullsh** and breathe.  It felt so right to go up to the pines in Northern California where my grandparents live, where I feel most unplugged and free, and film this video.  Big thanks to everyone involved.  Hope you enjoy.”

These Things Always Change opens with lead single “Dream Alone,” a track about an internal dialogue between RYDYR and the latest version of himself, showcasing fluttering harmonies and vocals that stretch from vulnerable verses into a hummable hook, “I dream alone.”  The powerful single/video “See You Around” encourages listeners to embrace their true self and remove the facade we put on for the approval of others.  With its off-kilter bounce, the third single off the EP “The Way You Move” is about being enamored by just the movement of a lover illuminates an ability to step outside genre lines brought to life by Cole in the picturesque visual.  Otherwise known to fans as Cole Pendery of pop sensation IM5, RYDYR is Cole’s alias and creative outlet and took shape reflecting a vision hinted at by the chosen moniker – a respelling of his mother’s maiden name “Ryder.”  He ultimately settled on the palindrome “RYDYR,” representing how he is the same inside and out.  Striving to give listeners his truth through art and meaningful music, RYDYR symbolizes being transparent to the process and embodies truth while also providing him a vehicle to step out of himself.  You can connect with RYDYR via the following links.  Photo credit Ashley Osborn.
