Adam Melchor with Brynn Cartelli
Brooklyn Steel
Brooklyn, NY
February 10th, 2023
Friday nights in Brooklyn, NY are something special, especially when you’re about to see Adam Melchor play to an adoring crowd of fans, friends and family at Brooklyn Steel on February 10th.
Kicking off the night was Brynn Cartelli —winner of season 14 of The Voice.
She sang songs off of her 2021 EP Based on a True Story along with some of her other singles such as “Convertible in the Rain”, “Gemini”, “Girl Code” that she released throughout 2022. She also gave the crowd a treat with playing her new single “Secondhand Smoke” that will be out on February 24th.
Up next was the man of the hour, Adam Melchor. Walking out to a stage bathed in the warm light of lamps that were turned on by fellow band members as they took the stage with “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” playing in the background helped set the tone that this was about to be something special. The ambience made you feel as if you were transported to your childhood memories —to a living room of a friend’s house in New Jersey during the 90s or early 2000s.
Backed by Matt Olsson on drums, Alex Foote on bass, moog, mellotron and Danny Spadaro on backing vocals and guitar Adam had the crowd in the palm of his hands as soon as the chords of “I’m Afraid I Love You” were heard and he started singing. This night was definitely one for the books with being able to hear songs off of his latest album Here Goes Nothing! along with songs from Melchor Lullaby Hotline Vol. 1, Plan on You EP and singles he has released over the years.
Some standout moments for me were when they played “Dorothy “ and transitioned it to the song “30 Minutes” off of his Summer Camp EP, when he brought out the trumpet for “Joyride” and both of the songs they played for the encore.
Be sure to check out his music, follow him on his socials and go to one of his shows if he’s coming to a city near you. The Here Goes Nothing Tour will continue on until mid March, ending on the west coast in Portland, OR.
