Tillian Pearson (of Dance Gavin Dance) shares new single, video from upcoming solo record

Words by Annayelli Flores

It’s been a hot minute since we had new solo material from Dance Gavin Dance frontman Tilian Pearson – since 2015 to be exact – but it isn’t like he hasn’t been busy putting out a hot new record with DGD and touring the world. Somewhere in-between Dance Gavin Dance’s unyielding tour schedule, the band is supporting Underoath on the ‘Erase Me’ tour this fall, Tilian found the time record new solo material for his forthcoming album The Skeptic out Sept. 28 on Rise Records.

The first single off the record “Cocky” is an indie pop vibe that is notably elevated with Tilian’s standout raspy vocals. As if he was done teasing fans with new music, the frontman released “Hold On,” the second single off The Skeptic. According to Tilian, “‘Hold On’ is about mutually surrendering yourself to another person. Sometimes even when you are close to someone, you put up barriers of isolation and duplicity that inevitably lead to you having to lie to yourself. An honest relationship with even just one person can be extremely fulfilling.”

“The music video for ‘Hold On’ uses imagery of the relationship between a father and son, spanning thirty years. Moments of intense pleasure juxtaposed by the fear and shock of loss will hopefully produce the emotional satisfaction of a streamlined, three-minute classical tragedy,” he adds.

Tilian’s third full-length effort, The Skeptic, is due for release on Friday, September 28th via Rise Records.  Fans can pre-order the record here.

Tilian is also currently on his North American headline tour with Royal Coda, Andres and Sunsleep. Check out the full list of dates here and make sure to cop a ticket.
