Atlanta-based hard rock/heavy metal band Liliac brought their Madness Tour 2023 to Mercury Ballroom on May 26th to a modest but energetic crowd! The 5-piece band is comprised of siblings Melody Cristea (vocals), Samuel Cristea (lead guitar), Abigail Cristea (drums), Ethan Cristea (bass), and Justin Cristea (keys) and really rocked the house this evening! Starting off the evening was Louisville band Abstract Agenda. Starting off their set with great covers of “Mother” and “Crazy Train”, they also performed some original songs, as well. Singers Finn Matzek and Melea Mason provided a great vocal contrast and made sure the crowd was having a great time! The band were very engaging with each other, with a couple of members switching instruments during the set, adding to band’s fun vibe. “Thanks to Mercury Ballroom for having us!”, announced Finn before the last song. “Should out to the bands after us! It’s been amazing having you as an audience!”. Next up was Louisville singer-songwriter Adam Thomas. With a fun and high energy rock vibe, he had the crowd dancing along in no time. Having released his latest album, Disco Dreams, earlier this year, he and his band performed plenty of songs from the new album, as well as his 2020 album Names and Faces. He mentioned that this was his second time opening for Liliac and that it was great to share the stage with them again, also announcing his upcoming gig at Kentuckiana Pride Fest, saying “If you wanna see me in a sequined jumpsuit, come on out!”. Ending his set with a great cover of Harry Style’s “Kiwi”, he thanked the crowd for being a fantastic audience this evening. Next up was Louisville rock band Hannan. Giving off heavy rock vibes and plenty of crowd engagement, these guys really got the crowd hyped. Singer Graham Hannan made sure the crowd was engaged and having fun. Announcing that the band will soon be releasing their new album, he asked everyone to turn on their phone flashlights and wave them in the air as the band performed a track from the album called “Make Up Your Mind”. Their high energy set had the crowd ready for the evening ahead!

Closing out the show was Liliac. From the moment she stepped out onto the stage, singer Melody Cristea was a bundle of energy in her red sequined circus master jacket, black shorts, fishnet-style stockings, black top hat, and face make up! Starting things off with several new and unreleased songs including “Rise Up”, “Monsters Are Dead”, and “Buried Alive”, as well as the live debut of “Hypothermia”, they also performed some really fun covers of “Crazy Train”, “Enter Sandman”,”Seven Nation Army”, and “Holy Diver”. Pacing the entirety of the stage and singing directly to the crowd with her powerhouse vocals, Melody is a dynamic front woman! The siblings were all having a great time on stage together and engaging with the crowd, who were dancing and singing along to the songs! A few songs in, Samuel treated the crowd to an epic guitar solo before the band launched into “Mars”. Ending their set with “Dear Father”, the band then performed an encore, ending the show with their latest single “Carousel”. Liliac put on one heck of a fun show with lots of energy and plenty of crowd engagement that left everyone buzzing until the end!
