Judah and The Lion with Ethan Regan
Paristown Hall
Louisville, KY
April 8th, 2025
Judah and The Lion brought their ‘The Process Tour’ to Paristown Hall on April 8th to a packed house. Touring in support of their latest album The Process, released in May of 2024, they performed a varied set list that included plenty of songs from the album, as well as older songs that spanned their 14 years as a band. These guys are the epitome of a live band, giving their fans this evening a fun and high-energy performance that spanned a 19-song set list! Having seen this band several times over the past few years, whether at a festival or a more personal show, they have a real gift of connecting with their fans and giving their all to make sure everyone has a good time. They started out the evening in the crowd, singing their first song in the pit, which created a really special and intimate start to the evening. Judah Akers (vocals/guitar) and Brian MacDonald (vocals/mandolin) sang amongst the fans, telling them that with this tour, they wanted to redefine what it means to come to a Judah and The Lion show and to connect more with fans and create a more intimate environment. Akers talked quite a bit with the crowd between songs about how many memories the band has in Louisville, having performed here numerous times over the years, and how it feels like a “home away from home” and holds a lot of great memories for them. He also talked about their latest album and how it was about the 5 stages of grief and how he came to realize the strength in surrender, allowing part of you to let go and part of you to move forward.
Opening the show this evening was indie alternative artist Ethan Regan, whom Judah and The Lion brought out on stage about halfway through their set to perform a really fun cover Lit’s “My Own Worst Enemy”, followed by everyone dancing a coordinated routine on stage to Lil Jon’s “Snap Yo Fingers”, which was super fun to watch! The band ended their pre-encore set with their hit song (and crowd favorite) “Take It All Back”, which had everyone singing along at the top of their lungs! The band left the stage briefly, then came back out for a 2-song encore. They started out with the song “Maybe The Best Is Now”, for which they got crowd participation and had everyone screaming “I’m gonna rock, I’m gonna roll, till I wake up my soul”, “The lights go off, and the curtain goes down, take it all in and look around”. The band mentioned in a recent IG post how if “The Best Is Yet To Come” was true, then there has to be a time when we can say “Maybe The Best Is Now”, saying how this is the future of the band. The band ended their set with “Sportz”, with Akers telling the crowd beforehand how “This feels like a fresh start for us! Thank you for believing in us and supporting us! You are like family to us!”. After the music was over, MacDonald bid farewell to the crowd by saying “Eat more chocolate, be kind to each other, and listen to more Judah and The Lion!”. With this being like a home away from home for the band, we hopefully will not have to wait too long for a return performance!
