You know that one social media post you see as you’re scrolling that makes your heart skip in your chest and starts to pull an excited squeal out of your throat? No? Just me?
This afternoon on my usual perusing, I managed to stumble upon a notification I had missed somewhere along the way and I have never been so thankful for an algorithm in my entire life. A familiar profile image, a name I have memorized, a logo I have tattooed on my skin-
Halestorm – female-led hard-rock extraordinaires – are Back From the Dead yet again, and this time it’s not just a deluxe edition of their most recent studio album (see name from just a moment ago and laugh at the joke, please and thank you) that was released in 2022!
With a current ongoing tour (Lzzy and Joe: The Living Room Sessions, running until May 17th), an international run set for May 27th through July 5th, and yet another tour slated from July 17th to August 22nd (The Greatest of All Tours with Volbeat and The Ghost Inside), it’s not as if fans don’t already have enough to be excited for. Between concert footage, photos from each show, and anxiously awaiting the day that they themselves will get to stand in the crowd and scream along to all their favorite songs, there are a plethora of things to look forward to.
However, as one would expect for this powerhouse collective of musicians, they have (unsurprisingly) been working behind the scenes yet again. This time, apparently, on a new single.
The first 10 bars that fans were thrown on April 14th hold a lot of promise. A cool cobalt blue of clean guitar over top synth and a simplistic drum beat. Knowing this band’s previous works, the most exciting thing about this teaser is the way that based solely on this, slow tempoed as it is, we have no idea what to expect!
We’ve been handed mellow ballads like “The Silence” (2018) and “In Your Room” (2012) in the past, but we’ve also been taken by surprise with songs that have slower starts and then transform themselves into head-banging anthems such as “I Am The Fire” (2015) and “Amen” (2015). Even with such a dulcet introduction, there’s no telling what’s truly in store past those first few measures.
The song is titled “Darkness Always Wins”, and it’s set to come out on April 22nd – with excitement already buzzing through the fandom in anticipation of what’s in store. It is currently available to pre-save on Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, Tidal, and Deezer.
To follow along this new journey, and all of the tours that have been previously announced, you can find Halestorm on Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and TikTok.
