Ian
Mercury Ballroom
Louisville, KY
March 2nd, 2025
19-year-old St Louis rapper Ian took the stage at Mercury Ballroom on March 2nd to a sold out crowd! Although it is rare to attend a show with no opening act, Ian easily commanded the stage with a fun and high-energy performance from the second he walked out onto it and didn’t let up until the very end. To say the crowd was excited would be an understatement! I have covered a lot of shows at Mercury Ballroom, including many sold out shows, and the crowd this evening was one I have rarely experienced. Ian has a very large and loyal fan base and they were singing, dancing, and jumping up and down euphorically the entire evening. There were many occasions this evening when Ian just stood on stage between songs, looking awestruck and almost speechless at the crowd response. He commented several times, with a huge smile on his face, about he wasn’t expecting such a reaction from the crowd! He mentioned how it was his first time in Kentucky, saying “Ya’ll are crazy!” (I imagine in the best possible way, though). At times, it was hard to hear Ian singing on stage, as the crowd was singing their hearts out at top volume, which only added to the electric energy this evening. It was clear from the start that Ian has a very special connection to his fans. With a set list that included “Never Stop”, “Airbnb”, “Grand Slam”, “On The Floor”, “3.5”, and an encore performance of “Magic Johnson”, Ian gave his fans an incredible evening that they won’t soon forget. And although it was his first time in KY, with a turnout such as this, I doubt it will be his last!
