November 30th, 2025

Swedish metal band Avatar made their way to Paristown Hall on November 30th for their In The Airwaves US ’25 Tour to a sold out crowd of fans! These guys are the epitome of a live band, complete with costume changes, epic lighting rigs, and an incredible stage production. Having formed in 2001, the band has amassed a sizeable base of loyal and devoted fans, many of whom attended the show this evening with their face painted like singer Jonas “Kungen” Jarlsby, with costumes, and with plenty of excitement for the evening ahead. The band started out their set singing “Captain Goat”, floating from the back of the stage to the front, cloaked in dark robes, bathed in blue light, and with Jarlsby holding a lantern, all while smoke rolled around the stage. It was a spooky and ominous setting and a perfect way to start their set. Soon enough, though, they were taking things up a notch and getting the crowd dancing and screaming along at the top of their lungs, with classic jumps, hair flips, leg kicks, and sing-alongs, making the sure the crowd was fully engaged! It was clear this evening how much Avatar loves and appreciates their fans, with Jarlsby telling the fans on a couple of occasions how grateful the band was for their fans support and for getting to make music and do what they love. Performing for about 2 hours, the band performed songs from their recently released album Don’t Go In The Forest, as well as older songs, delighting older and newer fans alike. With a 3-song encore this evening that ended with “Hail The Apocalypse”, complete with a confetti cannon, it was an incredibly fun evening of music. Starting things off this evening was “death-western” band SpiritWorld, who blend elements of thrash metal and death metal with western imagery and themes, making for a really fun experience, as well as New Zealand metal band Alien Weaponry, whose music is influenced heavily on their Maori culture, with drummer Henry de Jong starting their set by chanting a Maori haka.
